Poster Illustrations

I have always admired the old style travel ads and they influenced this collection of poster designs heavily.

This retro range of poster designs features locations in Sydney and beyond.The collection gives a nod to travel posters and advertising created in 1930s, 40s and 50s by acclaimed artists such as James Northfield and Percy Trompf which promoted Australia as a holiday destination.

These illustrations evoke feelings of nostalgia and a bygone era. This is one of the most popular collections that I have created for Art of Adventure.

Brief
Create a series of vintage style posters to sell in retail outlets and Art of Adventure website, based on various locations in Australia.

Solution
Using as a reference to follow, I took and sourced photographs relevant to the particular location, then drew vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator. The images are reminiscent of 1930s railway posters, mimicking printing techniques of the time.
